UK Cancer Information Service (UKCIS)
UKCIS is a national web-based reporting tool, running across the NHS national network (N3), providing the user access to cancer information for their area.
If you are already registered, simply launch the UKCIS here (N3 only).
Through a configurable web interface, UKCIS offers secure and timely information on cancer incidence, mortality and survival with control over drill-down to lower levels of data and data manipulation features, meaning that you can navigate to your area of interest with ease.
The applications in UKCIS provide comparative views of the information held by the cancer registries of the UK and allow users to compare their own organisation or local geographies data to national levels, Government Office Regions (GORs), Local Authorities (LAs), Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs), Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and Cancer Networks.
Available on UKCIS:
- Cancer Incidence, Mortality and Survival* analyses for both Local Government and health Geographies
- Individual and common groupings of all cancer sites
- Numbers and crude rates
- Age-standardised rates
- Age-sex profiles
*survival is provided only at higher level health geographies - cancer networks and above
The Cancer Information Service was updated in June 2010 to cover the whole of the UK. Details about this and other new features, please download the UKCIS release notes.

"UKCIS is an invaluable tool that has the power to help you monitor cancer rates for your local area of responsibility."
UKCIS is based on the same user interface as two other national applications:
- eDQRS, the data quality reporting service on the NHS-wide clearing service
- CfH Secondary Uses Service (SUS), the Department of Health's performance indicator comparative system for benchmarking acute trusts, PCTs & SHAs
