National Cancer Information Service (NCIS)
NCIS is a national web-based reporting tool, running across N3 (the NHS national network), providing users access to cancer information for their area.
If you are already registered, simply launch the National CIS here (N3 only).
Through a configurable web interface, NCIS offers secure and timely information on cancer incidence, mortality and survival with control over drill-down to lower levels of data and data manipulation features, meaning that you can navigate to your area of interest with ease.
The applications in NCIS provide comparative views of the information held by the cancer registries of England and allow users to compare their own organisation or local geographies nationally data, and other GORs, LAs, SHAs, PCTs and Cancer Networks.
Available on NCIS:
- Cancer Incidence, Mortality and Survival* analyses for both Local Government and health Geographies
- Individual and common groupings of all cancer sites
- Numbers and crude rates
- Age-standardised rates
- Age-sex profiles
*survival is provided only at higher level health geographies - cancer networks and above
"NCIS is an invaluable tool that has the power to help you monitor cancer rates for your local area of responsibility."
NCIS is based on the same user interface as two other national applications:
- eDQRS, the data quality reporting service on the NHS-wide clearing service
- CfH Secondary Uses Service (SUS), the Department of Health's performance indicator comparative system for benchmarking acute trusts, PCTs & SHAs
