National Cancer Equality Initiative

The Cancer Reform Strategy highlighted that the challenge in reducing inequalities in cancer is the lack of evidence about the extent to which different forms of inequalities exist, what causes them and what interventions will be most effective in addressing them.

Many of NCIN's reports have identified potential inequalities (for example by socioeconomic deprivation, gender and ethnicity).

In addition to producing analytical reports, NCIN has prepared a Cancer Equalities Portal.This portal brings together a range of equality metrics, with the aim of informing action to tackle inequalities and measuring progress towards this. The portal was been launched to support the NCEI's report Reducing cancer inequality: evidence, progress and making it happen.
