The National Cancer Intelligence Network (NCIN) may store, manually or electronically, personal information you submit via the NCIN website. This policy sets out how the NCIN use and protect the information that you provide.
What is personal information?
Personal information means any information that can be used to identify an individual, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, a home or other physical address and an email address or other contact information, whether at work or at home.
Information you give us
Signing up to the National Cancer Intelligence Network website for email alerts will necessitate a record of your name, email address and other optional personal information on our database. We will never disclose your email address or other personal information to any third party without your permission. From time to time we may use this information to contact you, for example, in response to feedback from you.
In general, the NCIN automatically gather certain usage information like the numbers and frequency of visitors, very much like television ratings which tell the television companies how many people tuned in to a specific programme. We only use such data in the aggregate. This aggregate data helps us determine how much certain parts of the site are accessed by our users, which enables us to improve our site to ensure that it is as useful as possible.
For security purposes, we also store users' IP addresses, with dates and times of access. As with other personal information, your IP address will not be passed on to third parties.
